UNFORGETTABLE EASTER

Dan Bolin
“If the Lord be with us, we have no cause of fear. His eye is upon us, His arm over us, His ear open to our prayer - His grace sufficient, His promise unchangeable.” - John Newton

Easter 2020 will not soon be forgotten! History books will record the empty church buildings, virtual services, and online prayer meetings.

These are tough times. The threats of medical disaster and economic ruin are very real. But throughout history, other generations have faced similar dangers and difficulties. And today around our world, billions of people live with health and financial challenges as part of their daily routines.

An invading army threatened the nation of Judah’s very existence as they advanced toward Jerusalem’s gates. Their national resolve was shaken to its core. The people felt panic and fear.

God came to Isaiah with a message for King Ahaz. The simple and straightforward words were directed towards Ahaz and his people, and they still apply to us today. “Say to him, 'Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid.’” (Isaiah 7:4a)

  • Be careful. Don’t take unnecessary risks, endangering yourself or others.

  • Keep calm. Respond don’t react. Lean into the peace that passes understanding.

  • Don’t be afraid. Trust our God who will never distance himself from us.

The threats are real, but God is bigger than any danger we face. Because of Easter we can be careful, keep calm, and not be afraid
