Start Ups

Dan Bolin

“God will not turn away from doing you good. He will keep on doing good. He doesn't do good to His children sometimes and bad to them other times. He keeps on doing good and He never will stop doing good for ten thousand ages of ages. When things are going bad that does not mean God has stopped doing good. It means He is shifting things around to get them in place for more good, if you will go on loving Him.” - John Piper

Several friends have started new businesses. They thrive on the adrenaline rush of establishing something new and dream of creating the next great enterprise. A few have succeeded, providing products or services to many willing buyers. But some new ideas flounder. People lose interest, are distracted by new adventures, or run out of resources. In the end, many of these enthusiastic start ups turn into disappointments and failures.

Starting is much easier than finishing.

All of us who put our faith in Jesus become one of God’s amazing “start ups.” God is at work, remaking us into a new person who conforms more and more to the image of Jesus. Fortunately for us, God does not lose interest, become distracted, or run out of resources. He finishes what He starts.

Paul told the young Christians at the new church in Philippi, “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

Don’t let setbacks or failures in your life – or in the lives of others – fool you into thinking that God has gone on to bigger and better things. He will never abandon the transformative work He begins in the lives of His children.
